DESCRIPTION

The base lineage of the Fifty Fathoms was born when Blancpain’s CEO Jean-Jacques Fiechter, an avid diver, collaborated with French Navy combat divers who needed a reliable, legible, and water-resistant instrument. It introduced foundational dive watch features, including a secure unidirectional rotating bezel and double-sealed crown systems.

The case of this Grande Date model is made the choice of utilitarian, more tool-ish satin-brushed titanium. Not only does this have an effect on the look of the watch – which feels sportier, less luxurious, less shiny and darker – but it is also a positive update on the wrist. Titanium is lighter and considering the 45mm diameter and the 16mm height, this isn’t a detail to be overlooked. Titanium is also more suitable for sports/dive watches, as it is more resistant to corrosion and to scratches.

One of the signature features of the watch is the glossy and domed sapphire crystal bezel insert – which was created to recall the bakelite bezel found on the 1953 model. This bezel is very well executed and offers nice reflections and depth when worn. The sapphire crystal has a 60-minute diving scale printed on its inner face and features a unidirectional rotation.

The dial, besides the addition of the large date at 6 o’clock, several other updates can be seen. First, the new position of the date window offers a greater balance to the dial. Then, to accentuate this visual balance, Blancpain has removed the applied Arabic numerals at 3 and 9 o’clock to only leave the large 12 on top. All the other indices are applied triangles filled with luminous paint. The dial is stepped and the hands have the signature sword design of the collection.

The movement of this Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Grande Date can be seen through the sapphire case back. The calibre 6918B is based on the well-known 1315 found in various watches of the brand. This in-house engine is known for its long power reserve – 5 days or 120 hours, thanks to three mainspring barrels. It also features an anti-magnetic silicon hairspring, avoiding the need for a soft-iron cage around the movement. All adjustments are done by the crown, including the date.

Delivery is free of charge within Hungary. International delivery is 120 EUR for Europe and 110 EUR for rest of World. We use DHL express service which usually means next day delivery within EU. Any orders received after 2 pm on a Thursday will be despatched the following Monday.

If you are ordering from a country outside of Europe you may be liable to pay import duties from customs.  You are responsible for additional charges for customs clearance; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be.  Customs policies vary widely from country to country, you should contact your local customs office for further information.

All our watches are packed in a protective box and wrapped in bubble wrap.Please note that a signature will be required on delivery of goods.

You will receive a delivery confirmation by e-mail, which will include your tracking number.

RETURNS

We hope that you love your new watch, but if you wish to return it we are happy to offer an exchange or returnsd within 14 days from receipt of the watch. The watch must be returned to us in the original packaging and in the same condition as it left us, otherwise we will not be able to refund your money. We are unable to offer any exchanges or refunds on items that are scratched, damaged!

Please do not use the leather strap until you are completely sure you want to keep the watch, otherwise we will have to charge you for the cost of the strap.

The watch should be returned by a tracked and insured method, please take out adequate insurance.
